BMW’s Origins
Founded in 1916 as Bayerische Motoren Werke by Gustav Auto and Karl Rapp, BMW initially produced motorcycles in the 1920s. It ventured into car manufacturing in 1928, with its first post-war model, the BMW 501, launching in 1952, re-establishing its reputation for quality.

The BMW 8 Series is available in three body styles: coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe, with four performance variants including the 840i, 850i xDrive, M8 Competition, and Alpina B8.

Most 840i models feature a rear-wheel-drive setup powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, generating up to 335 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, they can accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 5 seconds. The high-performance models—M8 Competition, M850i, and Alpina B8—use a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, with the M8 Competition producing 617 horsepower, while the M850i offers 523 horsepower, and the Alpina B8 delivers 612 horsepower. All models provide rapid acceleration, with coupe and Gran Coupe variants reaching 0-60 mph in roughly 3 seconds.

In terms of fuel efficiency, 840i models achieve approximately 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined with both drive configurations.

The BMW 8 Series prioritizes safety, offering features like forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, surround-view camera, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality.

Inside, these models feature plush leather seats, heated and cooled as per preference, along with steering wheel heating. The spacious cabin provides ample head, shoulder, and legroom, while the trunk offers 15.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

The infotainment system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen operated via touch or control knob, customizable for driver convenience.

The starting price for the BMW 8 Series is $87,500, with optional upgrades for advanced driver assistance packages.
