Automotive enthusiasts are always excited when Dodge unveils its latest muscle cars. The new Dodge Barracuda continues this tradition, drawing inspiration from the classic 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. Resembling a refreshed Dodge Charger, the Barracuda has become a symbol of American muscle cars for over a decade. As a potential successor to the Dodge Challenger, this model is designed to be more compact, lightweight, and quicker. While the exact chassis details remain unconfirmed, it is unlikely Dodge will adopt Alfa's rear-wheel-drive platform.

The upcoming Barracuda features a sturdy, lightweight frame with a classic rear-wheel unibody setup reminiscent of earlier models. It will be around 600 pounds lighter than its predecessors, enhancing agility and performance. Its rear unibody design will include dual exhaust outlets, delivering a deep, roaring engine sound. Visually, the car will have a lower stance and narrower profile, accentuating its sporty look. Inside, it offers seating for four and is equipped with state-of-the-art in-car technology to ensure maximum comfort and connectivity.

The interior will feature premium leather seats and a cockpit designed for driver focus and efficiency. Lightweight materials like aluminum and carbon composites will be used for components, contributing to overall weight reduction. Unlike previous Barracuda models powered by HEMI engines, the new version will replace V6 engines with 2.0 and 2.4-liter turbocharged options producing between 270 and 330 horsepower, along with 300 lb-ft of torque. The top-tier model is expected to feature a 3.8-liter V8 engine, generating nearly 600 horsepower — placing it in direct competition with the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Maintaining its rear-wheel-drive layout, the new Barracuda promises impressive drag racing capabilities. The vehicle is expected to launch in the first half of 2018, with an estimated price near $40,000.
