The bacterium Helicobacter pylori, commonly known as H. pylori, is responsible for infection in the stomach lining. It can penetrate the stomach environment and proliferate there. The exact cause of H. pylori infection remains uncertain, but it is believed to spread via saliva or contact with fecal material and vomit from an infected person.
